Building for Future Physicians Serving our Community
|
Phoebe began training students to serve the medical needs of Southwest Georgia in 1993. Since its inception, this clinical study program has attracted physicians and healthcare professionals to our region. But we must do more to ensure physicians are coming to our communities to meet our healthcare needs.
Competition for students is high and we want them to choose Southwest Georgia!
- All third and fourth year medical students are required to study in a clinical setting
- Phoebe has been hosting students since 1993, including those studying medicine and pharmacy
- Our program is so successful that it is now being repeated in Atlanta, Rome, Savannah and Athens
- We provide hands-on experience with patients and opportunities to participate in delivery of care
- Better housing is providing a competitive edge for attracting students and future physicians
Reliable access to exceptional healthcare is key to economic development and improved quality of life for the people of Southwest Georgia.
- Strong delivery of healthcare services is a key factor in attracting new business and encouraging economic growth.

- Valued community relationships
- Hands-on opportunities
Better housing for students helps us maintain our competitive edge.
Phoebe has been training future physicians since 1993. Our program has been so successful that it is now being replicated across the state. We must meet the needs and interests of the students in order to attract the best candidates. Students are here for various lengths of time and need safe and affordable housing. An on-campus facility designed to meet their needs has increased the number of students who choose to study here, fostering an affinity for the area and ultimatley encouraging physicians to stay in our region.
The Phoebe Medical Housing Complex - Flaggstone - is the center of a vibrant campus.
The complex is located on the Phoebe Putney campus within easy walking distance of the hospital. Residents have easy access to the Learning Center, state-of-the-art Healthworks exercise and wellness facility and the on-campus employee child development center, Family Tree.
