Role of the Professional Nurse

Each practicing professional registered nurse is accountable for the care he/she renders to the patient. Professional nurses participate in the decision making function through membership on unit and organizational councils, committees, and task forces.

Our Registered Nurses:

  • Participate in the quality improvement process, analysis and interpretation data for effective care planning.
  • Are responsible and accountable for individual nursing practice and determines the appropriate delegation of task consistent with the nurses’ obligation to provide optimum patient care.
  • Coordinate and integrate all nursing care services related to the identified needs of the patient.
  • Collaborate with other health professionals in planning and delivering care appropriate to meeting the health care needs of the patient.
  • Practice autonomously using independent judgment within the context of a multidisciplinary approach to patient/family centered care consistent with professional and national standards.
  • Incorporate teaching in all aspects of practice through organization and community involvement.
  • Maintain competency and continues personal and professional growth.
