In order to best serve the needs of terminal patients who require inpatient care,
Albany Community Hospice needs a home of its own. For over 20 years Albany Community Hospice
has provided home based emotional and medical support for patients and families facing end-of-life
issues.

The Campaign for Willson Hospice House is a campaign to make this resource for our community a
reality.
Albany Community Hospice provides palliative care to patients in Southwest Georgia with limited
life expectancy. Hospice focuses on end-of-life as a normal part of the process of living and
provides special emphasis on maintaining quality of remaining life for terminal patients and their
families.
When it becomes a reality, Willson Hospice House will provide patients and their families a
peaceful, home-like setting where personal dignity and quality of life are emphasized.
An Inpatient facility to address a number of needs
This inpatient facility will allow Albany Community Hospice to provide:
- Symptom management for patients whose symptoms, such as pain, cannot be managed at home
- Care for patients who are actively dying and for whom care at home is simply not possible
- Respite care for families who need a short break from their full-time caregiver role
- Short-term care for patients, while their families receive education on specific aspects of how to
care for their particular condition at home
Services far beyond medical care
Hospice offers the best in symptom control and pain management, combined with compassion and emotional support.
Willson Hospice House will allow Hospice to provide an even broader range of caring services to meet the medical,
emotional and spiritual needs of patients and families.
In addition to services for inpatients, the new Hospice House will serve as a community resource for end-of-life
issues and bereavement support. There will be staff, meeting rooms and a library available to support these services.
A peaceful, home-like place of respite
Willson Hospice House will be surrounded by beautiful gardens and sitting areas where patients and families can go to
enjoy the serenity of nature.
The attractive patient rooms will be large enough for families to gather, or for a visitor to spend the night.
There will be a kitchen and dining area for patient and family use, several small rooms for family gatherings and a well
equipped playroom to entertain young children. Hospice House will include a peaceful non-denominational chapel to assist
in meeting spiritual needs.
Because support from family and friends is critical to Hospice patients, visitation will be encouraged 24 hours a day,
including children and pets.
Funding for this Hospice House depends on the generosity of donors like you. You can help provide a permanent home for
these dedicated caregivers to continue and expand their good work for the citizens of our community.
