2008 Tournament September 11th and 12th, 2008 Doublegate Country Club
Once again,
thanks to Nancy Lopez and our loyal sponsors and participants, the 23rd Annual
Lopez Golf Classic was an enormous success! The event, raising $138,000 for
Albany Community Hospice, will bolster financial support for the Willson Hospice
House campaign. This in-patient hospice facility will create much needed
support for the patients and families in hospice care. For the first time in
event history, the Lopez Classic became a qualifying tournament for the
Mercedes-Benz National Tournament. Winners Rick Collett and Isaac Johnson will
go on to compete in the dealer championship to be held in Janaury of 2009 in
Maui, Hawaii.
The evening before, guests attending the Pre Tournament Bash
escaped to a "tropical paradise" and danced to the tunes of the Coconut Groove
Band. Michael Cohen, guest and Morgan Keegan corporate sponsor, took home the
coveted prize of a $10,000 Ritz Carlton gift certificate to any Ritz property in
the world!
There is little doubt that a good time was had by all, but simply put, we could not have done
this without the generosity of our sponsors. A special thank you is extended to
these businesses for making this event such a success for Albany Community
Hospice. Even in a time of unprecedented financial and economic stress, the
masses came out to support this compassionate service and for that we are truly
grateful. Rest assured that because you gave to this need, lives will be
touched, changed and healed. Look forward to seeing you again next year!
